Gregory W Rushin has served as Chief of the Plano Police Department, since November of 2001. The Plano Police Department is an accredited agency, and Plano is one of the safest cities in the country. Chief Rushin has a diverse law enforcement background, with forty years of police experience.
Chief Rushin began his career as a Deputy Sheriff in Illinois. He is also a former FBI Agent, who served in the Washington, D.C. area during his tenure. Chief Rushin has a Bachelor’s Degree in Law Enforcement Administration, a Master of Science Degree in Human Relations and Business, and holds a Certificate in Public Management from the University of Texas at Dallas. Chief Rushin is a graduate of the FBI Academy, the FBI National Academy, the Senior Management Institute for Police at Harvard, and the FBI Law Enforcement Executive Development Program.
Chief Rushin has held numerous leadership positions in both state and federal law enforcement organizations. He is active in his community, serves on several Boards of Directors, and is a Rotary member.
In June 2019, Chief Rushin was also appointed as Interim Deputy City Manager for Public Safety Services. Added to his duties as Police Chief is oversight as Interim Deputy City Manager for Animal Services, Emergency Management, Fire-Rescue, and Public Safety Communications Departments.
